When Manikandan Thachat and a team of experienced medical device professionals established Aster Medispro Private Limited in Bangalore in 2001, their guiding conviction was straightforward: quality life-saving devices should be available to every patient who needs them. More than two decades later, that founding purpose has shaped one of India's most recognised urology device manufacturers.
Operating from the Jigani Industrial Area in Bangalore's Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Industrial Estate, Aster Medispro has grown from a focused start-up into a globally exporting company. Today, the facility spans 26,000 square feet and includes dedicated in-house tubing and extrusion sections, along with ISO-certified Class 10,000 and Class 100,000 clean rooms — infrastructure that ensures every device is manufactured to the highest international standards.
The product range has expanded steadily over the years. Aster Medispro now manufactures 75 or more products across urology: stents, catheters, dilators, guide wires, access sheaths, stone management devices, and electrosurgical electrodes. The catalogue includes Double J Stents, PCN Catheters, TURP Electrodes, Stone Baskets, Malecot Catheters, and Amplatz Renal Dilator Sets — devices used daily in operating theatres across dozens of countries.
That global reach is a point of pride. Aster Medispro's products are now exported to 45 or more countries worldwide, serving hospitals and urologists across continents. Recognition has followed: in September 2022, Aster Medispro was named the "Most Promising Innovative Medical Products Manufacturer" at the Zee Health Awards held at Hyatt Regency, New Delhi — an acknowledgement of the company's sustained commitment to innovation and quality.
The company holds ISO 13485:2016 and CE certifications, and operates under its tagline "Where Research is Routine" — a phrase that captures the culture of continuous improvement that has defined Aster Medispro's first 25 years.
